2024 Winter Session

Montlake PTA Enrichment Program

Registration for the winter session of the PTA After School Enrichment program is open Monday, December 4th at noon until Monday, December 11th at noon.  Click the button at the bottom of this page to go to the registration portal.  Register your students as soon as possible.

Our winter session starts Wednesday, January 3rd and ends Tuesday, March 26th.

• No enrichment classes will be held on days when school is not in session:  Monday, January 15th, and the week of February  19th.
• There will be no after school classes on Tuesday, January 2nd.  The Activity Bus will operate that day for students who are enrolled in Launch.
Students must register to ride the Activity Bus in the winter session. So, if your student currently rides the Activity Bus, you will need to register them again for them to continue to ride it in the winter session.
• Our after school enrichment program will no longer offer the Wolf Den class. Instead, winter enrichment classes will run to at least 15 minutes before the Activity Bus loads so that Wolf Den is not really needed. Staff will be there to supervise students while they wait for the bus.
• The schedule for the choir classes will be the same as the fall session.   For students who are only in the Montlake Choir and not a part of Cloud City Choir, they can enroll in Magic: The Gathering class which is offered on Mondays and Thursdays from 3:15 pm to 4:00 pm.  This class will enable these students to take the Activity Bus.
• A few classes do not run for the entire session. The two coding classes begin a week later. French ends one week early and Spanish ends two weeks early. Emails will be sent to families with students in these classes to communicate clearly when the classes are in session.

The Activity Bus
• The Activity Bus is provided by SPS at no cost to the PTA or to families. There is a fee to register for a seat on the bus. This fee will pay for staff to supervise waiting students, load students onto the bus, and to remain with students if the bus is late.
• Students must enroll to ride the Activity Bus each session.
• The Activity Bus is scheduled to arrive at John Marshall by 4:00 pm and depart at 4:15 pm (3:00 pm and 3:15 pm on Wednesdays). The Activity Bus has a route of the following stops:
o Greenlake School-Age Child Care (GLSA)
o E LOUISA ST @ FRANKLIN AVE E (near TOPS)
    o E EDGAR ST @ 11TH AVE E (near Roanoke Park)
    o 10TH AVE E @ E MILLER ST (near D' La Santa)
o E MCGRAW ST @ 20TH AVE (near Montlake Elementary)
    o 25TH AVE E @ E LOUISA ST (NE corner of Montlake)
• Students will be assigned a stop according to their home address if they are a new rider or the stop that they are currently using, if they are a current rider.  Please email [email protected] if you would like to request a different stop.
• During registration, you will be asked to provide your student's ID number and regular bus route number. (Log in to The Source to obtain your student's ID number.) This is important information that we need to have in case your student needs to ride the bus with a yellow card.
• The PTA will subsidize the actual costs for paying for staff to run the program and to supervise students while waiting for the Activity Bus. If you are able to donate any amount of money during check out, it will help the PTA run a sustainable program.
• Tip: Add the Activity Bus to your cart last, after your student's schedule is decided. It is not possible to edit the selected days for the bus once that item is in your cart. You will need to remove the item from your cart and add again with the corrected days, if you need to edit.

Students in Launch
• Launch students may register for after school classes and the Activity Bus. It is possible for Launch students to register for only the Activity Bus.
• Launch students attending enrichment classes will be returned to Launch after class. Launch will load students onto the Activity Bus.

After School Enrichment Classes Procedures
• Students will meet their instructors in the gym at school dismissal time. The instructors will take attendance while in the gym to try to ensure that all students are where they should be.
• Hampton Tutors will be providing an onsite coordinator. The onsite coordinator will help facilitate any changes to student pick-up plans. The onsite coordinator will also help support students who need extra breaks during class and will help resolve any behavioral issues.
• A behavior plan will be emailed to all parents and guardians of registered students. This plan reminds students that the same school rules apply after school and that participation in the after school classes is a privilege. All students and parents will need to read and follow this plan.
• We rely on parents to communicate changes to schedules and pick-up plans in a timely manner to [email protected]
